Welcome to Angling Traditions, where we love fishing with classically-styled fly rods made of bamboo and fiberglass. Some trips may include a float in a restored, wooden drift boat, as well, to top off a full glass of Montana fishing. Let us take you on a Montana fishing adventure you will always cherish.
There are a lot of great guides in Montana, but ours have a deep knowledge of fly rods, their history, and how they can be used with today's techniques. Fully experience every cast, hook set and fish's head-shake, with rods that bend a bit deeper. Relax, and let us show you how Montana fly fishing is supposed to be!
Owner, Zac Sexton started Angling Traditions to help more people have fun fishing with fly rods from days gone by. It seemed that is what people think about when they think Montana, and Zac wanted to share the fun of classic rods. He is a fly rod craftsman as well, and has a selection of modern, crafted rods in bamboo and glass. Of course you are welcome to bring your favorite rod, but you will always have the option to try something different.
Zac restored an old, wooden drift boat that was originally hand-made on the banks of the McKenzie river in Oregon. The Boat with no Name, as it has become known, is a smooth-floating ride, with great stability and comfort. It is a touch of class to a trip with classic rods. There is also the option of floating on an NRS cataraft, which is necessary for some rivers. It is able to handle any rapid, and is equally enjoyable.
